LOVE MUSIC ?   So do we - come and join us !
ALL children in or around Enfield and North London are welcome

The Latymer Saturday Music Centre is an independent Music Centre which is open to ALL children from reception year upwards. Activities take place at The Latymer School (www.latymer.co.uk), Edmonton, on Saturday mornings, during term time.

Since it was founded in 1994, hundreds of children in and around Enfield and North London have benefited from the music education it provides.

Summer term is underway and will finish on Saturday 19 July.

MUSICIANSHIP CLASSES

For 4-11 year olds
(Reception Class to Year 6)

These classes aim to develop musicianship through a variety of musical games and activities. Emphasis is given to the acquisition of aural skills, musical literacy and co-ordination, which are so important for learning to play a musical instrument.

Children in the infant age-range attend these classes before the commencement of instrumental tuition, and continue with them for a period afterwards.

INSTRUMENTAL TUITION

For 6-18 year olds
(Years 2-13)

Lessons are available from a team of highly qualified specialist teachers on the following instruments:

Tuition on other instruments can be arranged where there is sufficient demand. Advice is given on children's suitablility or readiness to play a particular instrument.

Instrument lessons are normally offered to children from Year 2 upwards, but for younger children only certain instruments are recommended.

Music theory lessons are also available.

DEMONSTRATION CONCERT

This takes place annually and gives parents and children an opportunity to hear, see and try out the instruments which are offered and also to meet some of the teachers !

We have just had our Demonstration Concert for this year, on 5 April. The date and time for the next one will be posted here in due course. NEWCOMERS WILL BE WELCOME !

ENSEMBLES

String and recorder ensembles cater for different levels of ability and provide valuable experience in playing a musical instrument with others.

EXAMINATIONS

Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall graded examinations can be taken when appropriate. The Centre enters a large number of candidates at regular intervals with excellent results.

PUPILS' CONCERTS

There are regular opportunities to perform at concerts, both formal and informal. One such concert is expected during the Spring term and two during the Summer term. These help teachers to monitor progress, while giving pleasure to parents and friends.
